Graphic Design Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional graphic designers and non-designers trying to do their own graphic design. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Today I received a "riddle" consisting of 6 characters of apparently some sort of font. Definitely "computer-written". I am a total newbie at graphics design, photoshop, GIMP, whatever; but the person who sent me this at least frequently uses GIMP, so I thought it's maybe a built-in font there. But then I failed at trying to find out which, don't even know what to do in this program.

By any chance, does anyone of you recognize these characters? What my incredibly bad paint(ing) skills don't show: these symbols are actually very "round" and smooth. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital version of it. Maybe it even is some foreign alphabet. I already checked fantasy and science fiction alphabets.

Thanks in advance!

It looks to me like a foreign alphabet. I would suggest that you try starting with Thai and other Indic scripts. – Ananda Mahto Dec 24 '12 at 11:41

You really need to post a scan or photo of the original. – e100 Dec 24 '12 at 12:07
@e100 I will try to get that on here soon. But maybe not today anymore, as it's christmas ;) Need to find someone with a camera for it. – Rand al'Thor Dec 24 '12 at 13:11
@AnandaMahto Standard Thai script is not "round" and "smooth" enough it seems, but it definitely is the right direction! The signs actually look very similar already. Thanks, gonna search through some Thai and related alphabets :) – Rand al'Thor Dec 24 '12 at 13:13

I can't tell anything from those scribbles. It's possible that the characters are simply glyphs in an OpenType font.
