Graphic Design Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional graphic designers and non-designers trying to do their own graphic design. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am making a website and I am relatively newbie at web design but I have read user interface design principles so I am doing better with the typography. The front page of my site kinda looked empty under the text so I decided to use JS to make a sldieshow....Does the slideshow look bad good etc what can I do to make the frotn page look good? Thanks http://dev.icalapp.rogersdigitalmedia.com.rogers-test.com/menutest.htm

Welcome to the community. This question is a bit too broad for this type of forum. You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face. General questions like "What can I do to make this site look good?" are tough to answer due to their being overly broad. Please see the FAQ: graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/faq – Philip Regan Jul 12 '11 at 17:09

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

Put the slide show at the top and size the images inside it accordingly.

I'd also avoid blurring inactive link text, that's not a good pattern for a variety of reasons.

+1 for avoiding the blurring. You don't want the user to have to hover the mouse cursor over links or away from the menu just to find out where the links go. – Farray Jul 12 '11 at 16:33
