Is it possible to make an SVG filter that will apply a fisheye effect to an image? Or is this beyond the scope of this technology. I don't have a great understanding of vector graphics, etc. and if they can be used to create an effect like this.

Has anyone done this in inkscape?

Thanks!

A vector fisheye, that's being applied to the vector points, or a bitmap fisheye, that's being applied to bitmap images in your document? Or both? – Marc Edwards Jun 9 '12 at 23:31
Potential duplicate: graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/3076/… (alas, the answer appears to be 'no'--at least in Inkscape) – DA01 Jun 10 '12 at 1:04
I was hoping to create a filter then use it to filter an <image> in a webpage. The image could be in any format but from my understanding that doesn't matter? – Dan Harrington Jun 10 '12 at 4:16
And :-( @DA01 I was really hoping this would work! – Dan Harrington Jun 10 '12 at 4:17
Could you explain what you mean by 'fisheye'? To my knowing a fisheye is simply round. – poepje Jun 11 '12 at 8:40
