I'd like to copy part of a picture to another part of the same picture, the background is similar in both places but not exactly the same. Is there a way to mach the copied part colors to the colors in the area it is copied to? the shape I'm copying is too faint to use foreground selection or fuzzy seletion I'm using gimp

This isn't an answer, but Photoshop does have tools which may make this easier. Is that an option? – e100 Jul 13 '12 at 9:40
The exact algorithm depends on the specific case. Could you show a sample of your work? – thebodzio Jul 15 '12 at 0:28
Could you post your images or a link to them? – soundswaste Sep 27 '12 at 20:09
