I'm trying to print a color document with transparent images from Publisher 2003 or 2010 (I have both).

However, the transparent edges are coming out white.

My understanding is the "PDF Level #" = the suffix in the version #, so Level 2= v 1.2.

Publisher 2010 is reporting Nitro PDF (which support PS up to version 1.7) as being only PS Level 3.

When I try to print to that driver, Publisher 2003 and 2010 both give me a warning :

You must use a printer that is set to output PS Language Level 2 or later."

I've also tried the Commercial Color PS Printing but it only supports PS level 3.

Any suggestions of another driver?

I don't use Publisher Postscript level 3 is what you need for transparency support. Anything older than Postscript level 3 is about 5-8 years behind the times. PDF version 1.4 supports transparency (Acrobat 5 - which is again, 5 to 8 years old now). PDF versions do not equal postscript versions. If you need Postscript level 3 support, it seems clear NitroPDF is inadequate. – Scott Aug 17 '12 at 0:07
