I'm a software engineer living in Chicago, specializing in interactive media development. I build games and apps for both mobile and web using technologies like C#/Unity, ActionScript 3/Flash, Lua/Corona, and JavaScript/HTML5.

I am writing a book about developing games in Unity, and it's now in the Manning Early Access Program (MEAP) for subscribers to get chapters as I write them! Click this image of the cover:

comment Why are Apple Macs used so much in the graphic design industry?
really want to emphasize the point that Macs used to be unquestionably better. This isn't as true anymore, but 10 years ago?

comment Are dotted pictures a new trend in Web Design?
Great tip about how the grid overlay helps the text stand out from the picture.

comment Filling half a shape in Illustrator
I just went into Illustrator to try this and noticed there is another tool that does the exact same thing as that Pathfinder step. Select the dividing line and go to Object>Path>Divide Objects Below

I didn't know how to split objects in half (I don't use Illustrator much) so thanks for that

comment How can I graphically represent width, height and depth dimensions?
rolls eyes Okay first off you certainly can develop 2D videogames, I'm not sure where you got the impression that you can't. Second, while I do wish web 3D was further along than it is, it certainly does work and I've been working with web 3D technologies for years stackoverflow.com/questions/6376705/…

comment What programs are being used to design this?
A good analogy there would be to think about layer effects in Photoshop. The actual png files you create are like the individual layers, while the shadows projected in the game are like applying a Drop Shadow to a layer in Photoshop.
