comment How to design a site without pictures
You can easily design websites now a days without images at all. I did it on a project a few years ago(no longer up). You just use a bit more css to make it look nice. Usually designs without images end up being a bit more minimal looking in my experience. I wish I could show you that example, but take this website, GD.SE, for instance; all of the images are just the buttons, the header, and a few icons here and there. The rest of the site is MOSTLY just css and content. One tip is; white space is very important for a design like yours.

comment Photoshop help to reduce the PSD file size without losing its quality and to create a fast loading page?
When you make websites in photoshop, usually you save small pieces of the image and load them with html from your site. For instance you would save the header-area without the buttons in photoshop and then load that image as a background and use html/css to make responsive buttons.

comment How to save layers individually that can still interact with each other outside of photoshop?
@Joonas I think for my particular case, which I will be using the images in a video editor, I can export the photoshop layers into after effects and the blending options will still work. I saw the other thread though, thanks!

I found another solution just in case someone stumbles upon this question in the future. Ultimately I needed the images to work in a video editor so I imported my Photoshop layers into After Effects. After that I can use the layers from photoshop in after effects and the blending modes still work the same way as in photoshop. But this answer is kind of tangent to the original question.

@Scott thank you. I will give it a try, but cant I make the path at a very high resolution and make the spacing really small between the squares and then shrink down the path to get a smooth rectangular-ish line? actually maybe that would just creat a regular curved line at that point.

@Scott I see. I will use illustrator then, im just not as informed on it as photoshop(which isn't much). Once I make the path in illustrator I assume I can port it over to photoshop?

@Scott thanks for the help, but what is strange is that, I cant seem to find the stroke dialogue box in photoshop and I am using CS5. I have only found details for edit>stroke online.
