New generation of Save icon that is not a “disk”? Also, in regards to the HD graphical text, that would not benefit users who speak other languages. As far as I understand, good icons shouldn't rely on a given language. Otherwise, localized software will also need an additional set if icons for each locale. I like the graphic though. |

Tips and sources for beginning designers I agree with most of your points, and i'm not considering a career change or anything like that :-) At work and if I were to start a really serious personal project obviously professionals do the work. But me and I assume many other programmers like to build little mini projects and can't hire pros for something thats gonna get 4 visits a month. So with these endeavors I design them myself, and the better they look, the better chance they'll take off. I also enjoy the process of trying to create digital art. Its a nice break from coding and a decent result makes it all the more pleasing. |

Tips and sources for beginning designers I actually included "Tips and sources" in the title, and had intended to include "tips" along with the list. I envisioned this more as a community wiki actually although I think I'm missing the required reputation. |
