Depending on the level of involvement you have, Consultant can be a useful word.

comment Methods for improving color choice and combinations?
@cockypup some of those inherited instinctive colour associations are derived from geographic positioning. Humans near the equator experience more intense sunlight and so have evolved to deal with it better. With that evolution, their eyes have also become "less sensitive" to colour, and that is why they prefer stronger, deeper, or more saturated colours. That's just one factor though, and indeed I agree that none of it is concrete, but it's good knowledge to have in your back pocket. :) Thanks!

comment Is there an order to learning non-technical design theory I should follow?
In society today intelligence is stigmatised and the assumption of being ordinary is used as a denial mechanism. Western society has been snowballing downhill for a century, so most of us don't even realise this isn't the only way life can be lived. I say this because I don't subscribe to "talent". I think we all possess the ability to unlock talents in every area. Some people may be more naturally advantaged at some, but we all have the ability to do anything anyone else can. However, within the sociologically and psychologically conditioned environment of modern society, you are correct.

comment How do I create a depth illusion effect with a spots pattern in Illustrator?
joojaa I want to upvote because it looks so awesomely easy, but I can't work out how to do it with the information you've provided. I'm guessing a few things atm, but no solid idea.

comment Am I being asked to plagiarise?
I agree with Scott. There's not enough information here. I think it could be answered either yes or no, depending on the symbols and the company size. A freelance architect asking to use a widely recognised architecture symbol probably isn't plagiarism regardless of who else uses it. Other cases are more complicated.

Anecdotal: I like to call them DIM business owners.. (Do It Myself), I even got a few chuckles after saying it when presenting to business owners.

comment How can I improve my handwriting ability?
I found it funny that it starts with 'just some extra points'. I think you intended a quick answer at the start, which quickly spiralled into a 10-pointer list. Definitely the most comprehensive answer on the page anyway, nice job.

cockypup, awesome answer, I just felt it was so much to consume without any headings so I added some. If someone comes back to find a specific piece of it it might be pretty hard without the heading structure. It's up to you if you want to keep it like this, I don't need to tell you where the edit and rollback functions are. :)

I figure wrist strain, posture, and writing angle should be mentioned here in some capacity. If no one else covers them I'll have a try. Though, it's a bit ironic giving advice about handwriting, given the state of my own scribblings.

comment Why do some, but not all, PNG files (with transparency) in InDesign documents have black borders?
I'm not sure if it's related, but if you copy a PNG with transparency to your clipboard and paste it in to Photoshop (instead of opening it directly in Photoshop) it somehow forgets about the transparency and replaces it with a black background. The simple fix is to open the PNG via File > Open.... Maybe you copy-pasted some in from the clipboard, and opened others properly? Worth checking at least.

comment Automated method of setting ideal sizes and positions of symbols or logos of various proportions, when put together (ignoring any text)
Hi ellockie, I see a very slight difference between this and the linked duplicate question, but my answer to this would essentially be the same as my answer to the marked duplicate. Just disregard the font size, balance your tallest and widest symbols to be roughly equal in size/"page presence", and then scale the other symbols to fit those boundaries. Defining consistent white space is the most important factor you have influence over when facing this task. Beyond that, there's no hard and fast formula for a group of varying images.
