comment Design solutions/ideas/examples/sugestions for good looking cropped images in a product booklet
@DA01 I thought of that but the company I am designing the booklet for doesn't actually have the products in stock, they are ordering them from the manufacturers/producers when someone wants to buy it... they are usually quite expensive(1000 euro+) and there are about 40 of these chairs... so there is no way to photograph them untill they actually have one of them in stock, and in order to get them in stock someone needs to see the booklet, decide on buying and then I can photograph it :) the sad thing is that the producers don't offer high quality photos of them...

No, what I found was PDF files with the lines for the cutting part of the design, then you open the PDF in Illustrator, and simply copy paste the cut lines from Illustrator to In Design.... but maybe it shouldn't be only PDF's, just templates... if you take a look at the tutorial I gave as an example you'll understand

@Alan Gilbertson If I am resing all of my images so that in in the Info box the Effective ppi is at least 100-120 ppi.(The actual ppi is still 72) Is that enough for a good quality A4 print ?

It's pixelated like the second example horatio. Why do you ask?

Yeah...my 300 ppi image is probably corrupt... it doesn't happen with other images. What I was saying with the Photoshop Filter is not to insert information that isn't there, maybe CS20 will have magic tricks in the Filters menu, but after you resample and enlarge the image it naturally goes jagged and pixelated depending on how much you resize it, so a solution to that is to add a texture over the whole image so the jagged...pixelated stuff is not visible anymore. I know the best thing is too look for other images but in my case there are no other images... so I have to make a compromise

Another issue I have is with this one single image, its 1300 x 1000 px at 300 ppi, yupee!! but when I Place it in InDesign and then use right click then > Transform > Clear Transformations. Ends up being 312 x 240 px at Actual & Effective 300 ppi....and of course if I Transform it to make it bigger the effective ppi drops :(, which I now kind of undersant....but why is only 312 x 240 px in the InDesign file when the actual image file is 1300 x 1000 px ? why is InDesign so darn confusing...

OK... solution? what would you do if you had no other choice but 72 ppi images for an A4 Print ? I'm thinking resample and to get rid of small bad looking stuff on the image I'll add some sort of transparent texture...something like this Photoshop filter : featurepics.com/FI/Thumb300/20080425/… that is applied to this image...but maybe I'll find something better. I know this is like "bad practice" ... like Don't do it! But when you have no other choice you have to work with what you've got...

comment Strange annoying 1px line when I save a PDF from InDesign
I tried saving with the following Compatibility settings: Acrobat6(PDF 1.5) and the lines didn't appear anymore! Yupee! but as usually they would randomly appear(sometimes yes and sometimes no) I hope they will not appear again in the future...
