@Örvar, the reason is editability. Broad word, I know. It covers many things like: gives you more freedom when it comes to resizing ( shape and text layers especially, because after rasterizing them, upsizing will only hurt the quality), you can still edit font size, you can edit the text itself. All these different things that basically go away if you rasterize it. It's not necessarily bad to merge/rasterize, but keeping layers as they are is often the smart choice in the long run.

@user1676691 I believe it could happen even if the action was made with a lower version too. I'm not 100%, but to me it sounds like the action is trying to do something that your PS does not understand. But again, this action does not do what you want. I'm 100% sure of that.

@user1676691 Could be that your PS version is lower than the one used to make this action. On another note, it helps you export Layers not Layer comps.

Then it sounds like it might be a bug.

Took me a while, but I got it now, I think. I believe you have three options: 1. Remove all the comps you don't need and save a copy of the current file. 2. Find a script that does exactly what you want. 3. Make your own script that does exactly what you want ( Probably wouldn't be too difficult to bend that script to your will. ).

5. If this only happens with the linked placing method, it could be a bug, since it's a relatively new feature and I'm pretty sure it's somewhat experimental at this point. 6. By "no way to force it at 100% scale", do you mean you can't resize it at all, or do you mean you can't accurately resize the smart object to it's original 100% size?

Some thoughts: 1. Maybe the main document is smaller than the document you are placing, in which case the placed document is scaled down to fit in. 2. Maybe your placed document is not the size you think it is. 3. Maybe your main document is not the size you think it is. 4. If you try to place a normal smart object, does that look scaled down as well?

Örvar, Is this is what you want to do?

Both of these questions you asked... I haven't got the slightest idea of what you might be getting at. --- What you're thinking of, as far as I can tell, is used all the time.

comment Batch processing in Photoshop executed in a strange order (not alpha-numeric)
You did get your problem solved apparently, but since Photoshop is not super ideal for this, I would use a batch renaming application for that. --- Adobe Bridge has a batch renaming feature. There's a string substitution preset which would be perfect for that. --- If that is not an option, there are also many batch renaming applications for mac, and I believe for windows as well. I prefer free NameChanger. It has a replace first occurrence with, which would work for this ( I'm sure every batch renaming application has similar functionality. )

I'm curious, why does the order matter? Isn't the end result the same no matter what the file order is in a batch process?

Maybe not with this one, but in some instances I'd also consider animating png files with javascript.

Ok, now that I've been able to check it out on a proper computer... (still not super fast loading page, but like 2 times faster than on ipad). Matching texture is way too much trouble as far as I'm personally concerned. I would probably first try how this would work out in gif format without the background. If that doesn't look good, I'd just use a png without the background... and if I rreaaally wanted that animation, which seems to be on the helmet only, I'd place the helmet gif on top of the png as a separate img.
