comment How do you make such a shape in photoshop?
default hexagons are symmetrical, you'd have to deliberately make it asymmetrical for it to not be.

Hexagon, another smaller hexagon, delete.. trace what's left with pen tool for a proper shape.

comment Best book for design inspiration
Sorry but its still too broad. I mean what inspires me, and what inspires you, and what inspires someone else could be completely different things. Maybe you find inspiration in an illustrated bible, I might find inspiration in punk rock posters from the 1980s, another person in back issues of high fashion magazines, and someone else in art nouveau books.. The point is this question can't be answered as it stands. What inspires you is not going to be the same as anyone else.

comment Best book for design inspiration
Hi Jaison, as it stands this question is incredibly broad. A book - with pictures - that inspires. There's only a couple hundred thousand of those. If you can try to edit the question to be something more specific it might work, MIGHT. I'm really not sure there is a way to make this question not entirely opinion based.

comment how could i make this look less vomit enducing? lines
Voting to close as too broad. On the SE Network questions should be a bit more specific than, "how can I make this less vomit inducing?" I mean you could type the letter with normal font on a white background, but I highly doubt that's the answer your looking for. It merely illustrates that your Question is not specific at all.

comment How do I use Color Dodge and where do I find it?
@JohnManly to be fair the person asking wouldn't know to search "blend modes," but I opened the Photoshop Online Help from the software and typed in Color Dodge and it was the first result in the help file... Now out of curiosity I did it in Google and the first result (after videos) indicates this should also be closed as a Duplicate: graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/6181/…

I'm voting to close this because it has nothing to do with design and can be easily found in your software's help.

comment Do I need a black stroke when saving white artwork for it to be able to print?
Ensure the white is white and not "paper" then print on colored paper if that's what you want. Otherwise, I too am unclear what you're asking.

comment Simple 3D Renders
As it stands this is a very broad question. Photoshop, AutoCAD, Rhino, FormZ, Illustrator, Modo can all do the above image among many other software packages. I'd also point out that the image you posted doesn't look Cel Shaded at all. Voting to close as too broad. If you can edit the question to be something answerable then I'm happy to retract or vote to reopen.

Not sure why this got a downvote, I actually agree with it 100% which is more than the illustrations that could easily be salt. Context makes a world of difference.

Sugar should be much more refined. This looks like salt. IMO
