comment Animating Moving Fog/Mist in Photoshop Image
This is going to be nearly impossible to manufacture in Photoshop. You need to either purchase stock footage of smoke, film it yourself, or use a video compositing application with a smoke / particle generator.

comment How do I calculate image size for print
This is nearly impossible to answer as it depends on viewing distance and size. If you just want no fuzziness then the general starting point would be 4,200 x 4,200 at 300ppi giving you 14inches x 14inches.

comment How does Yoga Perdana colorize his illustrations?
Showing us what you've tried and perhaps also a logo that you don't feel is "soft" as you put it would be helpful. I suspect a simple inspection of the histogram of Yoga's work compared to work you find isn't as soft will reveal a lot.

comment Does this New York Times magazine cover have any cultural significance?
@DA01 I think there's a world of difference between "guess at the meaning" and "educated guess" especially when we're talking about visual communications in journalism. But yes I could be completely off, perhaps they just liked the way it looked. I contacted the designer with a link, maybe she'll come and offer some of the thought process that went into it.

comment Making cut-paper art digitally, does resolution of shapes need to match?
If I understand your question right then I think its a matter of personal opinion and preference as far as how you want the end result to look regarding the resolutions. There's no technical limitation that I know of saying all parts must be this resolution or that one.
