comment Illustrator CS6 - Messed up shapes
I voted to close as well because I believe this is a tech issue. See this post on what appears to be the same issue: forums.adobe.com/message/3293835

comment How can I represent photographing people's life in an iconic logo?
Hi, I'm guessing English isn't your first language. I tried to make your question easier to understand. I don't think I changed the meaning, but if I did I apologize. Feel free to edit it further if that's the case.

Stroke and anti-aliasing properties on yours probably differ.

You haven't asked a question but to save the time, the closest thing to a question would be "How do I make true vectors in Photoshop?" which Scott has already answered here: graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/17865/… --- Voting to close as duplicate.

comment Principles of composition: how to lay out images in text?
@Will there is Aligned Left, Aligned Center, Aligned Right--- then there's Justified, Justified Left, Justified Center, and Justified Right. When justified which is commonly done in columns the sentences are all spaced in a way so that a letter is flush with the left and right side of the column. The Justified Side such as Justified Left would refer to the last line being flush only on one side, which is the case in the screenshot you posted. It causes large gaps in text and rivers (vertical gaps) to occur such as, "...the brain are capable of generating it, a theoretical..."

post some screenshots, even if you change the content to filler if you can't publish the real stuff. It'll be a lot easier to help you figure this out and offer advice that way.

This is a little difficult to answer but is really interesting. The problem is right now we'd have to postulate many, many different layouts to come up with something. Could you go into a little more specific like how many images you need to include and what type of outlines they have? The goal is the editorial / ad / page can also play a role in this.

comment Simple way to give this image a more 3-D effect?
What's wrong with it? What effect are you trying to achieve and what have you tried? Right now the question is a bit too broad to answer, please try to narrow the scope down a bit.

Its tricky to say what's going on from your image. Can you post some more screenshots including different selections and the stroke/fill panel so we can get a better idea of how to help you.

comment Organise / Align / Snap multiple objects in a box?
Hmm... you know I guess there's a few ways to do it. Its hard to say the quickest. Are they all the same size currently, just too big? Are they all different sizes? If different are they at least proportional to each other? @Jim

comment What are the basic rules of “flat design”?
I'm voting to close because its a bit unclear what you're looking for. In that I mean, you had a question but you also seem to be looking for a critique. Please clarify if you want to know "What are the basic rules for flat design?" Or if you want us to critique your design. If it is the critique as your edits seem to indicate read through our critique guidelines here and follow them: meta.graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/672/…

comment Motivations for a designer to get involved in an open source project
What kind of Open Source Project? What kind of involvement? Are you talking about providing free graphic design to a project? Are you talking about writing a graphic design software? I'm voting to close at the moment because I don't find it clear what you're asking. If you could edit it, then I'll remove my close vote.

Dino, you should focus on one question at a time here. Probably edit out numbers 2 to 4. You can make other questions, but be mindful not to flood us with too many questions at once.

comment What happens to articles in academic journals between acceptance and the printing of the journal issue?
StrongBad, are you able to say which journal you're talking about? I have a good amount of publishing experience but not so much with academic journals. I could take a look though and probably give you a pretty good answer. There's a good chance Scott isn't too far off though. As far as your last comment, if you're interested in something specific about journal layout, make that a new question and ask something specific.

comment How is mozilla.org homepage design acheived?
As far as strict rules - its a crapshoot. You'll get more helpful answers if you post something detailed that shows us you tried on your own and just got stuck on a certain part. Like if you had made the shadow in your question but it didn't look quite right. Included what doesn't look right, a screenshot, and the code. You're welcome to ask in Meta or in our chatroom (we're very active in our chat).
