comment Mockups: Coding vs Drawing?
Constraints are a wall. Some walls can be brought down – that's where the progress lies, other can't for now. It's good to know they're here, but there will be no progress if all walls will be considered permanent.

Designers think "visually", so I don't blame them for not being "hot" for "translating" their ideas to an abstract code. If that wasn't true there woudn't be any WYSIWYG tools out there. I also don't blame designers for being attracted by flash. Look what they can do with it :). I personally prefer way of HTML5, but that's the other thing. A few words about printing then. You've said that knowing it specificity is just "about understanding the medium and its associated constraints". What does constraints do, if not hold you back?

@DA01: I woudn't go as far as considering "designing" and "coding" to be synonyms.

I can agree as long as you mean a team as a whole. I think that, when you're just designing UI/UX, not coding it, knowledge of code inner workings can actually hold you back, because you'll tend to avoid some potential solutions only because you'll consider them "too hard to implement". It means that your designs can be stripped of some brilliant ideas, because "toolkit thinking" will lock up parts of your imagination. Then again… it's only one side of the blade :) Besides, the question was about "mock-ups" only.

Actually, coding without designing UI first is quite valid technique. That is, of course, if "coding" doesn't mean UI or UX parts :). Most APIs and libraries are designed in fact without taking UI into account – that would be just impractical.

comment Illustrator Text Bounding Box Resize
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that you want to: select a group of elements (among them some text in "frames" or "free"), resize them together by using bounding box handlers and on the top of that you don't want text itself scaled but "text frames" are to be resized? Am I right? If not, provide an illustration to help to clarify your question.

comment Distribute objects along a path in Illustrator
Also, instead of "spacing" the characters or modifying their tracking, it's much easier to use "full justification" granted "start" and "end" markers are on both ends of path.

In fact that would be brain dead easy to do in InDesign, where one can put any graphics as a "glyph" using "text on path"…

@MatthewRead: I'd rather say "luminance".

@e100: I'd guess your screen is either extra dimmed (I'd say about 60-70 cd/m²) or light on your desk quite bright, or both :). Anyhow, I'd definitely agree that pupils will have little to do in that case if moving back and forth between printed and displayed text.

comment Is the sharpness at 100% zoom sharp enough for Illustrator printing?
It depends on printing method and your image resolution (see horatio's answer). A rule of thumb for offset printing is resolution 300 dpi, though in some cases even 200 or less looks properly, but 300 dpi is safe. If it's sharp in 100% zoom in Ps, it's set to about 300 dpi and it looks good to you, then it should be ok.

comment How do I zoom in Illustrator CS5 using Bamboo touch ring
No, you couldn't missed that option on 3 elements list :(. I think it's a good time to contact Wacom support. Maybe suggest them implementing this for this Bamboo model (such functionality is in e.g. Intuoses)? I can't think of a reason why the coudn't do that.

I'm afraid that's the way for now :(. But… every draw back is also an opportunity for improvements. Maybe some great, new interface or workflow will emerge out of this? I encourage you to think how one could solve this problem and let devs know about it (e.g. on mailing list).
