comment Why do some logos look.. old? How does design age?
A logo is only as good as the brand. Everything else is subjective.

what you described are graphic designers, not web designers.

comment How can I convince a stubborn client that white space is absolutely necessary?
point 2 is great indeed. Tell the client "If you want to emphasize everything, then nothing is emphasized." then show him this video

comment How can I prevent Photoshop from applying anti-aliasing to a layer when it's resized?
This seems to work only if there's no transparency in the layer. Also, it doesn't keep the original coloring(you'd have to eyeball it).

@user1946 yes, you'd change the logo color to something else.

comment Help me optimize this Photoshop process (create image from layer)
ah sorry I misread. I often run into a simliar situation, but I need the new document to be the same as the original PSD, and the same content position too.

Ctrl+N will not always give you the dimension of the original psd though(what he's asking), if the copied content layer has transparent padding.

@Alan what do you mean by "Chop?" Are you talking about the ink seal of his name? Yes, those are always in red.

comment How do I create Mexican hat potential figure in Illustrator using 3D Map Art?
Excellent answer. It is odd indeed how Illustrator decides how to divide up the surface. Your solution worked like a charm. I supposed for (2) I can always expand it and manually tweak the thickness of the lines.

I love that site, not just for legal typography, but a great typography resource in general.

comment Create a Triangle with Rounded Corners
@SikuSikuCom the downside of this method is how sharp the shape end up being, is done manually still. So you have to eyeball it. Also it's not scalable since it's not vector. However one good thing about this method is that it applies to other polygon shapes too. e.g. a Hexagon with rounded corners.

comment Copy & Pasting from Photoshop to Illustrator loses transparency
Not an answer but an observation: I'm guessing you're rasterizing layers for copying purpose. You don't have to merge/rasterize layers. Just hit cmd+A to select all, and go to Edit->Copy Merged. This way you'll copy all the visible elements on all layers as if they were on one layer.

comment What file types should my web designer provide me with?
@DAO1 "you shouldn't be designing the site as PSD files to begin with" you should ask that as a question :) IMO it all depends on the site.
