In Photoshop, how do you find the name of a layer by clicking within your psd? Could you post what specific version of Photoshop you're using? You can find it by going to Photoshop > About Photoshop. Also it would be helpful to others if you posted your OS version. I remember encountering this bug a while back, but at some point in time it fixed itself. I'm using Photoshop CS5 v12.0.4 in Lion 10.7.2, and I'm not seeing this problem. |

Getting fonts for design mockups I was going to comment on horatio's post, but I guess I'm not allowed to. Anyways, his post reminded me that a long time ago I downloaded a package of all of Google's font archive. I found this link: joemaller.com/1856/download-google-fonts. Even though Google doesn't provide them in an archive, there are no licensing restrictions which you need to worry about in downloading them from here. That being said, I think the Extensis plugin may be worth trying still, so you don't have to maintain the font list on your computer. |

Can I transform an image's location in a Photoshop action so that it's relative to the canvas and NOT the image? I should thank you too...Answering this question forced me to finally experiment and wrap my head around Photoshop's wierd alignment tool quirks :) |

Can I transform an image's location in a Photoshop action so that it's relative to the canvas and NOT the image? It may still work, even if you don't have a locked background. The Alignment Tool works by aligning your object to whichever object is furthest over, e.g.- if you align two object to the left, it will align them both to the edge of the left-most object. If your layer is off the canvas, and you know it's general position (ie- which corner), you can first align the object to the opposite corner using the method I described, and then align it to the corner you want. This is ridiculously convoluted—I hope that Adobe fixes the alignment tools to get them more in line with the rest of CS. |

How can I effectively manage all my design assets? Thanks for the in-depth advice! I can see now that I really do need to look into Bridge more. I use it a lot and love it for browsing images, but I never realized how much power it has for managing files. Th most I've ever done in Bridge as far as managing files goes is using spotlight search and filtering a single folder view based on attributes. The smart collections look really useful, I'm definitely going to start using them right away. Thanks again! |

How can I effectively manage all my design assets? Thanks for the info! I've used Spotlight comments to a limited extent before, but that article is very informative in how to get more out of it. |
