I'm a coder doing mostly Ruby, Ruby on Rails and the usual bits of JavaScript. I'm the CTO and co-founder of a startup called Watu.

How would you try to achieve a very specific color, to match other images, without trial and error? Is it possible?

comment How to select everything around a shape in Pixelmator?
My problem is not inverting the selection, my problem is selecting around a rounded rectangle that was just drawn.

comment How do I crop an image with just one or a few layers with Pixelmator?
@e100: How to figure out which layers to turn on and off is also part of the question. Or maybe there's a way to just copy the contents of one layer without having to turn them on and off at all.

Thank you. That renders Photoshop Elements useless for my purpose. Oh well.

@Lèsemajesté There sure are, and I'm looking for that same triangle in Elements.

@Pankaj double click opens up a dialog to rename it, no matter which tool I have selected.

@Lèsemajesté I'll look into that, thanks for pointing it up. I bet there isn't that much availability here like in the US, but at any rate, 80£ isn't that reasonable... at least is not more than what we spent on an IDE, which is a tool used every single minute of the day, well worth it (RubyMine in case you are wondering).

Interesting... I wanted to play around with a bamboo tablet, so I'll look into one.

I'm interested in Elements now that two people mention it. I knew it was a simplified photoshop but I thought it had only the tools needed to re-touch photograph, not to work with the usual web graphic design PSDs. I'll give it a try next time I have to process a PSD... for 80£ it's affordable.

What are these layer styles? Are they common? I think I'll ask graphic designers to send me a screenshot so I can compare what I see with what they see.
