comment is it mandatory to keep 72 dpi for web design? What if I create in 200dpi?
Gradients are fine, it's all about the way Photoshop handles layer styles and how appearance changes as you copy or move elements between documents — it scales them according to document DPI (which is a smart move, but means you have to be very careful). If you're designing for web, the best option is to set everything to 72DPI, always.

Great reply. One minor point, if that's ok: “It doesn't make any difference what ppi setting you use for web images” — Definitely true for the images themselves, but occasionally it can matter for the tools (please see my reply).

comment Is it possible to have global color swatches or color styles in Photoshop?
Hmm. That definitely seems scriptable. It could be insanely good.

I've just tried, and unfortunately I wasn't able to create an action for it. Imagine if you could run an action to apply changes to similar layers. I'd like that.

Just added another suggestion from @visual28 on Twitter. It's a good one.

comment Mysterious line next to shape after saving for web in Illustrator
Dragging the object off the artboard then repositioning is a terrible work around for ~$1000 software. Have you sent feedback to Adobe?

comment Practices for making visual ideas into real designs
Having a real project and a deadline helps — if you have to finish something, then you will, even if it doesn't turn out as well as you hoped. Rinse and repeat until you have enough experience and are happy with the results.

comment What is the method to “clear effects” in Photoshop?
Fill, stroke and layer styles are inherited from the last layer that was selected. So if you'd like to create a shape with no layer styles, select a layer with no layer styles first. :)

This video is definitely worth watching, especially for anyone who works in a creative field.

comment Why is OS X using my 32px@2x icon instead of scaling down the 128px icon?
Have you tried Icon Slate? kodlian.com/apps It seems to handle 2x (I have it here), but I haven't tried making icons with @2x resources yet.

comment What are the best practices and techniques to fix rags?
Sure, that works. In the print work I've done things were usually set and that was it, but it makes sense to use non-breaking spaces everywhere. Edited!

I'm not sure, but it's fairly hard to diagnose — Icon Composer doesn't handle @2x icons. Are you viewing on a Retina Mac or non-Retina Mac?

Can you provide a reference for the layers? The content will likely dictate the best approach.

The creator says he uses 3DS Max, V-Ray and SynthEyes on his website.

comment Do you have a “formula” for the webfont vs graphic type threshold?
You could probably even automate SVG and PNG embedding into your CSS and spit out the IE and non-IE versions using SASS or LESS and some other trickery. Would be fun to try to get it working. I'm all for distribution formats being different to creation formats.

comment How to open or save as ico in Photoshop CS6
Does the .ico format support images bigger than 256×256? I've never seen an .ico tool that allows for bigger images (things may have changed since I last looked though).

comment Color Management and Photoshop Color Profiles - Web Nightmare
@Jed Photography and using photos may require a slightly different workflow and setup, depending on where the images are from, how accurately you need to reproduce them and which browsers you're targeting.

comment How to extract the black and white components of an image to superimpose it over colored backgrounds
The specific example you've chose would be fairly easy. Do you need the method to be highly accurate and work with a variety of source images? (If you do, that changes things a little and makes it harder.)

"I strongly disagree" — Please provide a full answer on how you'd set up colour management for web. (Fair warning though: I will respond.)
