Is this a photo or 3D render, and how would I give a photo a similar effect? @4thSpace Yep. V-Ray is a renderer that can be used with quite a few different 3D apps / 3D modellers. It's considered to be one of the best. |

What program should I use for animated vector style graphics for an iOS game That's not true at all. Photoshop does vector brilliantly, if the output is as a bitmap. In fact, Photoshop's vector rendering is better than Illustrator and Fireworks by quite a big margin (antialiasing, gradient quality, masking). |

How do I blend a black-background fire image in Photoshop? +1 for the Screen blending mode. That's the way I'd typically do something like this. Also, if the background is near black, but not black, you may need to apply a Levels change as well. |

PSD Files: Quick Preview without opening Photoshop? +1. This has one caveat though: Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility will have to be set to Always (under File Handling in Preferences), otherwise QuickLook shows an all white image. |

photoshop action to create bump, normal and reflection maps for rendering software They're all very different things. What are you trying to create those from? Photoshop is a 2D application (with a little bit of 3D in the Extended version), so bump maps, normal maps and reflection maps aren't really its thing. |

How do I avoid lines at top and left borders of png files exported from Illustrator I'd recommend using Slices rather than Artboards. Slices are always pixel boundary aligned, Artboards aren't. |

Text hyphenation in iOS apps @Lauren Ipsum I'd recommend against justified text, too. But that's definitely my own opinion. Others may disagree. “justifying and using hyphens would reduce fatigue” — I'd say the opposite. Ragged lines give the brain patterns to lock onto. |

Mobile hardware is really quick these days, so anything too different to the app itself will often be jarring. |
