@plainclothes -- that's a great edit. I've removed my downvote.

comment Why does Photoshop report the wrong number of pixels?
@Chris Try clicking the "Uncached Refresh" button in the top right of the Histogram panel. Photoshop seems to calculate the pixel number differently depending on that cache level. Read here for more information.

comment Why does Photoshop report the wrong number of pixels?
In one, it's measuring the whole canvas -- in the second one you have a selection and it's only measuring that. I don't see any inconsistency there.

comment Is there an order to learning non-technical design theory I should follow?
So if you're not willing to research design (through looking at websites or reading books) or get a degree, then what are you willing to do? I guess I don't understand how we could suggest a "flow" that doesn't involve doing those things. You have to learn design somehow.

comment Smooth, multi-color gradients?
I would recommend you look into the Crystallize and Mosaic filters in photoshop, located under Filters -> Pixelate

I think this question is better suited for SuperUser.

I don't know that it does differentiate either way. What's stopping you form just looking at the width/height and determining it that way?

comment How can achieve a similar appearance using the gradient tool on illustrator?
Looks like to me as if it's just sitting in the background.

comment Automate Export to Layers without overwriting
I don't understand how not adding a prefix to your files would help. However, you're welcome to try this script as it just exports layers based on their name and doesn't require a prefix or suffix. Full disclosure, I am the original author of the linked script.

I wouldn't know the font, but there are plenty of similar fonts out there. Maybe you'll find one you like even better. Otherwise I'd recommend contacting whomever you got that image from to figure out the font.

This was tagged as illustrator for the beginning. Good note on the single color gradient though, that's good information.

@Gin-San. Great question -- I've edited my answer to explain why you don't see the person in the photograph.

comment How to create a solid color background for a brush drawing?
This is probably the quickest solution. Flattening the layers isn't necessary (and in fact I'd advise against it). Instead I'd "sample all layers" with the magic wand. That way you can easily clean up any weird edges with the eraser.

comment How to create/draw this text box shape in Photoshop?
There are quite a few ways of doing this. I'd recommend looking into masks, shape transforms, and the pen tool. Also if you have access of Illustrator you will have an easier time doing this sort of stuff there.

comment What shading technique/effect was used in this calligraphy?
Yes, I've added some additional details, but it's really straightforward if you understand the way cameras work with light. If you have a camera of your own that can control shutter speed this effect is very easy to reproduce.

It doesn't matter if it's English, Arabic, a horse, or anything else painted with light, they are all made the same way with light.
