comment How can I visually represent and make a good contrast between Mechanical Stairs and fixed stairs?
@Terry My point here is the challenge of distinguishing similar elements. For example: Walk vs bike vs car isn't hard to symbolize. But distinguishing gas-powered car from electric-powered car without text asks more participation of the viewer. Unfortunately, we can't always count on users' participation.

"Every icon I've ever seen ..." Seriously? Well, you certainly beat the average citizen at symbol translation.

This is the best answer so far. Try not to sound like a jerk and you'll get more votes.

Ryan points out the critical part of the job: getting paid. If clients pay you enough to make a living and they're happy at the end of the process, you're good to go. If you want to be good at the craft of design, that's going to take a lot of study and practical skill development. Clients care about that, they just don't realize it.

You have the essence of it, I just don't want any prospective typographers to get scared off and become Photoshop junkies instead ;-)

As a one time professional typographer with a stupid amount of typographic knowledge in my head, I can tell you that the whole first section under "Specific" is superfluous. As far as understanding typography for various use cases, you don't need to know everything, and international (esp Arabic) is just academic unless you're actually designing for it. The "Real expertise" section is the heart of the matter. Those are the differentiating features.

You just create an empty vector at the center point, group that with the triangle and transform that object. In your example, the box should be outside of the effect. Unless I'm missing something, that always worked for me (when I couldn't pull it off with the shape alone).

This is kind of nerdy, but I don't like the blend tool because I like my numbers to be precise. I divide 360 into the number of instances I want, then use a transform effect to rotate and copy the element. A vector point in the middle, grouped will give you precise control over the point of rotation.
