comment How to read style information from PSD Programmatically
It's bedtime for me, but see if this doesn't help you get online: pcpix.com/Photoshop (a bit old, but shows the basics) and this forums.adobe.com/message/3549891

Just to extend: This photographic technique is called low-key photographing and is all about the lighting setup. For more info: lightstalking.com/low-key-photography

comment Do you have a “formula” for the webfont vs graphic type threshold?
And as a SVG is a text-based XML document you can go in and edit it directly to do small adjustments, or even embed it directly in the web-page without loading it externally.

comment How can I simulate a reflective table surface in a photograph of an object?
@Imray Besides from the transparency issues on the base, I think your attempt is a good one. Some small tweaks with the lines/angles on the base and the position of the feet sticking out (which is very hard to fix) and it will be perfect.

comment How to paste PNGs keeping the original transparency
It's up to the application to set the data object to the clipboard. Under Windows you can do this in various ways, also the sort-of "lazy" way which a lot of applications seem to utilize (which make it appear as if it's a outside problem). I have used the clipboard to store transparent images myself (programmatic) and it's not a huge thing to accomplish, but never-the-less, it's up to the application :)
