Illustrator: Pathfinder divide not working as expected Epilogue: Illustrator gremlins had messed up my coastline, making it a group of several lines instead of one solid closed line, even though that's how I drew it. You would never guess it was split by just looking at it or selecting it. I only found this out by looking at the layers. I replaced the offending sections and it worked perfectly. So the moral of the story is to always check the layers window for funny business. |

Illustrator: Pathfinder divide not working as expected Alright, for whatever reason I can't particularly fathom, this works on every other land mass I try, just not this particular one. This line is on top and the coastline is on the bottom. Using outline mode I was able to eliminate some "glitches" (loops, cusps, etc) that may have contributed to the problem but alas nothing. I'll accept your answer anyways. |

Illustrator: Pathfinder divide not working as expected Thanks for the answer, but for whatever reason this doesn't work. When I highlight the path and and divide objects below, the path just disappears and some miscellaneous objects are highlighted. The object does not get split. See here |
