By day, I am the Director of Publishing Technology at Jones & Bartlett Learning. I spend most of my time in Xcode and Applescript.

At night, I am a degree candidate at Harvard University, Extension School working towards a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Computer Science.

The rest of the time, such as it is, I futz around with my website, Oatmeal & Coffee.

FontCreator is not a font management tool; it is a commercial font editor

comment Photoshop CS6 - Get width of paragraph text in pixels by script
Good idea, though that also assumes the text is by itself on a layer and alters the document like mine.

@JohnB: I think you're right, but TextItem appears to be the lowest, most atomic object in the hierarchy. I think the values being returned are a bug (shocker) because they have no basis in reality from what I see.

comment graphic design - high or low resolution
I would add that web design itself could be done at a high resolution to ensure the art, and even a mock-up of the site, could be printed if need be (it happens), but also as you note to help support Retina (and similar) displays.

comment What's the name of the font used in alphanet?
You are likely not going to find an exact match. Text-centric logos like that can be, will be, and usually are modified from the original font to bring a unique look to the text.

comment What is the font in the Profmat logo?
Have you tried contacting the company to see if they have a hi-res or vector version of the logo they can supply? If the logo is being used legitimately, they should be happy to provide a better version than having it redrawn, possibly violating their own branding guidelines.
