By day, I am the Director of Publishing Technology at Jones & Bartlett Learning. I spend most of my time in Xcode and Applescript.

At night, I am a degree candidate at Harvard University, Extension School working towards a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Computer Science.

The rest of the time, such as it is, I futz around with my website, Oatmeal & Coffee.

What platform and version of Illustrator are you working with? It sounds like you will need to work with the scripting APIs to do what you want (Javascript, Applescript, depending on the platform).

comment How to prevent having to redraw lines in Illustrator
I have updated my answer, but more examples of issues you are having might help others offer up better answers. But, personally, Illustrator requires a fair amount of work to get things right, and I don't see an easy way to get around it.

comment Leading error in Text box in InDesign, do you know of a way to fix it?
But it is okay to answer your own questions. Also, it is okay to talk to yourself as long as you don't answer back. Oh, wait... ;-)

comment How to use Illustrator to Create DIN A4, six-sided folder-flyer?
e100: Yes, but at the same time, if the printer can print multiple flyers on the same sheet, I would rather hand off a PDF to the printer and let them handle the details. I think my InDesign comment was really more to the "right tool for the job" point, and not use Illustrator for page layout, and I didn't get that across very well.

You would be much better off using InDesign for something like this and let the printer sort out the imposition.

comment Color mixer that can mix 3 or more colors?
@hced: Mathematically, results can, and will, be different based on the tool itself. In the example you posted, going from pure blue {R:0, G:0, B:255} to pure yellow {R:255, G:255, B:0} results in a dull green in the middle, perhaps the dullness resulting from some averaging. I'd think you're better off using layers so you can play with effects on your own to get the colors you want. Again, its kludgy, and it may result in too many choices to play with, but at least you are reliant on your own tools and not someone else's. I am curious to know if you find anything that does what you want.
