The claibrator actually does not really care how the printer does its job, it can still be profiled. | |

Once you have your printer-driver color settings, you can lose the monitor calibration in a fire (etc) and those files you made will still print OK on that printer. You can also simply use the print-provider copy as your target as long as you are using the exact file they used. | |
