Oct 25, 2022 at 15:58 comment added joojaa @BillyKerr no its just serving a svg file. But obviously it only works on windows.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:57 comment added Billy Kerr @joojaa Yeah, but that's illustrator - Adobe obviously has some magic sauce recipe that Inkscape doesn't.

Oct 25, 2022 at 15:55 comment added J Collins Ooh @joojaa tell us how it does it..! (And are we saying it is Inkscape or the OS?)
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:55 comment added joojaa @BillyKerr it does but in a sneaky way.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:53 comment added joojaa Well atleast if I use a svg target in clipboard in illustrator it works. But maybe try exporting a NON inksacape specific svg it should work. But wobviously you might be using a effect that neccesitates rasterizing.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:40 comment added Billy Kerr Also note the resolution of a raster digital image is its size in pixels. If you need a better quality raster export, increase the size of the raster image when exporting. You can do that in Inkscape's export panel.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:38 comment added Billy Kerr PNG isn't a vector format. It's likely your operating system that is copying the data as raster - when you do copy and paste from the clipboard. Nothing to do with Inkscape as such. If you want to use vectors, you need to use a vector format.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:37 comment added J Collins I am totally familiar with exporting to PNG, and even discovered Make Bitmap Copy now and how to set its resolution (annoyingly an application-wide setting). I am asking about the workflow of copy and paste, something is doing a rasterisation process and I suspect it is Inkscape.
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:34 comment added Billy Kerr Also, LibreOffice Writer actually supports importing SVG files. Not sure if MS Word does (since I haven't used it for a long time).
Oct 25, 2022 at 15:30 comment added Billy Kerr Vectors have no resolution. Copy and pasting is likely the problem. Instead try exporting from Inkscape as EMF (Enhanced Metafile) - and then import that into Word. That is Microsoft's own vector format.
Oct 25, 2022 at 14:52 comment added J Collins I'd love if that were to be the case, however it is rasterised. Try it
Oct 25, 2022 at 14:20 comment added joojaa there should be no rasterisation done.
