I found an even easier way:

  1. turnTurn on snap to cusp nodes &snap to cusp nodes and snap to object centerssnap to object centers.
  2. grabGrab vertical guide.
  3. snapSnap star center to vertical guide.
  4. rotateRotate until the top node of star snaps to vertical guide.

It should be perfectly aligned now.
