Therefore talking of the possibility is a bit premature. Besides the world changes by the time new designers hit the marketplace things have changed considerably. I mean we are going bats*t crazy over here. We are already at near the point where a janitor needs a 2 year degree in janitoring. Anyway its not so much about doing great work, than doing successful work over and over again that counts.
Oct 10, 2015 at 6:25 comment added DA01 @joojaa at least in the US, that's not entirely true with architecture as that requires certification to practice--which usually requires a degree from an accredited school. You can be certified sans a degree, but it's not easy, and it's rare. It typically requires a lot of experience (in that you can't just build a few killer houses and expect to be certified).
Oct 10, 2015 at 5:04 comment added joojaa Also one does not need an education to becomming an architect or engineer. Just that many instances wont consider you if you do not. But not required by any means, portfolio counts. Build a few killer houses on your own or patent and market something revolutionary and your set to go. Easier said than done though.
