I work at a startup, and the CEO picked out our company colors long before I started here. He's not a designer, and the colors are very strong and overwhelming.

The colors he picked are purple and orange. They make us look like we're a Halloween store (but we're a software company). But trying to change his mind about his company's color palette is unlikely.

However, as the Product Manager, I think it's my duty to make sure that the redesign of our platform doesn't look like a Halloween themed interface. We pretty much can't change the dark purple (#411E50) much but I think I can convince him that we should change the orange (#FD9827). I'm trying out #F0C85D and everybody that I've asked has agreed that #F0C85D is better than #FB9738, however they still don't quite like it. So how can I find a color that goes will with #411E50? I would appreciate any specific suggestions, or some advice on making a color combo given #411E50.

I'm trying to find a good accent color to #411E50 (dark purple). #FD9827 (orange) has been suggested to me, but I'm leaning towards something like #F0C85D. However, the people I've asked didn't really like it. How can I find a good accent color without resorting to "personal taste"?
