I am desperately keen to be able to read the text in the attached image, in particular the description below the picture of each watch.

I have tried but failed using GIMP. Does anyone have any suggestions using GIMP?

I appreciate that it is not possible to add information where it is not present because the image resolution is too low but unfortunately it is the only version of the image I have currently.

  • No theres is no practical way of doing this. Since you have searched on internet then the next place to go is the microfilm department of the library – joojaa Jun 16 '18 at 20:49
  • As pointed @Danielillo, you're more likely to get something starting from the images or from the source. For such a text perhaps you can obtain something with machine learning algorithms (see this, this and this). – Paolo Gibellini Jun 21 '18 at 7:42

Making a readable text of a mass of pixels is a bit impossible, just in CSI.

If you just want the description to connect them with the image, here you can find the explanation of this add.

  • Thanks. I thought that might be the case but just wondered whether there were any tricks that might make it easier to guess at what is there. Thanks for the link. I'm very familiar with that resource but it doesn't really provide the information I'm looking for. – Mazoue Jun 16 '18 at 16:14
