I have a customer wanting to print gold on black stock or black on gold stock (80-100 lb) for business cards and I'm afraid it won't turn out nice, classy like what he is envisioning. I'm looking for help with maybe paper options or even design ideas to make it POP. Pantone 871 seems to be the best option for the gold, but afraid output won't be good on black. It's not ideal for the 'antique' gold he's wanting, but I think it may print the best gold of all options out there. Client wants this look attached (not this design, just the "pop" of the gold and black). Any suggestions how how best to achieve this look?

  • Printers generally should tell what they can provide, so ask. In addition there are companies who advertise "golden business cards" to be their speciality, also shiny ones. Do a search and check, if they have what's wanted. The price can easily be $1,00 per card in small quantities. Hundreds of them are radically cheaper. – user287001 Mar 14 '19 at 12:54
  • Hi. Welcome to GDSE. Can you please edit your question and share the image you referred to in your question. It would seem you forgot. Also how is the image being printed? Lithography? Gold foil blocking? Screen printing? Have you asked your printer for advice? – Billy Kerr Mar 14 '19 at 18:11
