I have always used MAC when designing in Photoshop or any adobe program. Recently I have been working on a PC, and I've noticed some differences in Photoshop.

I am used to using the Direct Selection tool and clicking specific points on a shape or path. On the PC though, the direction selection tool only seems to work if I already have that shape or path selected. I cant just click or drag over the shape and select those points.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Is there a key I should press when using it to make it function that way? Any settings I need to change to have it function like it does on my mac?

Seems odd that the same program operates differently depending on the device being used...

  • I dont think that its mac vs pc you just have the shapes in separate containers. Did you save it and try same file on a mac. – joojaa Apr 4 '19 at 20:27

Photoshop is Photoshop. Traditionally the host platform makes no difference. – Scott Apr 4 '19 at 20:35
  • What selection option is showing in the tool options along the top? Sounds like you have it set to "active layers" instead of "all layers". – Billy Kerr Apr 4 '19 at 22:30
  • Billy Kerr, thank you for that suggestion. That solved my issues, I knew it had to be something fairly simple. I appreciate the helpful response. – Joe Wilde Apr 5 '19 at 12:10
