I have many AI files which contains text. How do i extract the text collate it and save it in a CSV in the below format"

File Name | Text |

Also, does each textFrame also have a unique id?

  • I have figured how to extract text from a ai file but I am not able to save it in a CSV. (New to this)
  • Same as any guide on how to save a text file, but instead you change the file extension to csv and arrange your data in a csv format, which is probably something like: the data from each file is separated by a line break and the contents are separated by a comma. Or whatever fits the data you've extracted. – Joonas Feb 28 at 7:47
  • Essentially a CSV is a plain text file (a .txt file), but with a .csv file extension. It contains a list of values separated with a comma. Comma Separated Values - as the name implies. – Billy Kerr Feb 28 at 14:03
  • How to open, write and save a txt/ csv file. Could you help with the code? – Abhishek Lahiri Feb 28 at 18:11

You can use any simple text editor for that. Just open a file, paste the text and save it. – Janus Bahs Jacquet Feb 28 at 22:01
  • See an example CSV file, opened in a text editor. In this case, Notepad++. It's just plain text with each entry separated by commas. A new line creates a new row. There's no code to write. You can also open them in most spreadsheet software, such as Excel, LibreOffice Calc, etc. – Billy Kerr Feb 28 at 23:34
