I have a mockup of my take on removing the lights from the city but It looks really scrapped. Thank you to anyone who might be able to help. I work on photoshop CC 2020

It doesn't need to be extravagant (Just better than mine) as it's a collab with someone who is using it in their visual effects edit.

  • Hi Joshwa, Are you asking someone to do this for you? That's not what we do here. It's a simple enough task to grab a brush and paint black on a new layer to cover the windows.

  • Oh no I thought there would be a shortcut to that like layers>adjustments>replace colour then bring down the luminance that's what I did but you can see it doesn't look that good Mar 15 at 20:25

If the goal is to retain the glow in the sky.. then you'll need to mask the buildings to use any adjustment layer... and if you're going to create a mask, you might as well just create a layer and paint black. Same relative amount of work. A straight adjustment will be sweeping and alter the entire image, including the glow in the sky.
