I am making a character animation in Photoshop. Few frames in it need to be edited but the issue is I have multiple video layers and when I'm trying to merge them they become a smart object layer.

After googling I could not find any answer to it so just wanted to know if it is possible to combine multiple video layers into one single video layer. If no do we have any other alternatives?

  • I'm not very familiar with the video/animation stuff in PS, but generally speaking, if you're outputting a singular video, why does it matter if they are in the same layer or not? And why doesn't a smart object work for what you're doing? I think even in actual video editing software you wouldn't merge as you might merge layers in PS. It's usually more like grouping (like the video group in PS) or smart object style situation where the clips stay separate, but they are just presented as a singular thing in the main timeline/layers. If you want to fully merge, you output multiple clips as one.
