I used the fuzzy selection tool select an outline and when I tried copy it into a new layer, It will have spots of transparency. I've tried saving the image to my disk but when reopening the saved image; the selection is off. I've tried including and excluding the alpha layer as well. How do I fix this? I'm a noob to this software.

Hi. Welcome to GDSE. That tool isn't great for removing backgrounds - in fact it's probably the worst way to do it. Try using the Foreground Select Tool instead. It's generally much better. Look on youtube for tutorials. Also I posted an answer showing the basics here
