Bevel & Emboss is a layer style option in Photoshop to add some shading and shadows to make the layer look 3D (separate from any of the 3D tools). I know Photoshop and Illustrator have some tools that are similar if not the same already, but I'm wondering if that includes the Bevel & Emboss? If not, how could that be created with the already existing Illustrator tools?

  • There is nothing as simple in Illustrator as Photoshop Layer Styles. Any bevel or emboss must be manually created in Illustrator. Sometimes Illustrator's 3D effect may be helpful, but not always. "How" one creates any bevel or emboss appearance in Illustrator is highly dependent upon the objects themselves.
