I have a website that contains an /image folder. This folder contains many sub folders. Over the years, non-optimised images have been uploaded here and the size of the folder is taking up a lot of space on my web server, there are also performance issues.

I'd like to use Photoshop (v24) to batch optimise every image in this folder (and all sub folders). Most of the images are JPGs, but there are some PNG. I need the file types to remain unchanged.

The important thing is, I would like to overwrite all the existing images with the newly optimised versions. I also need to names to remain the same (for linking purposes on a website).

What's the best way to achieve this?
