Measure Path Length in Illustrator CC
Here's an alternative if you don't have CC--this will work up to CS5, then again in AI 22 (ref):
Open the debug panel by pressing ctrl-alt-shift-F12 on Windows (maybe ctrl-opt-cmd-F12 on Mac?).
