To fix the opacity of the image, duplicate the image layer about 5 times or more and group all those layers plus the original layer. The result will be a fully opaque image.

Click on the menu dropdown (top right) and select Panel Options
Change Thumbnail Size from None to your desired size.

Steps to fix:
Step 1 - While still in the "Model" workspace/view, click the double-arrows (facing horizontally) at the top right of the window (just to the left of the word "Edit").
Step 2 - Hold click & drag the blue arrow facing skyward until your model is ABOVE the render plane (anything below position 0 on the graph will be cut off in Render view).

Although there is no way to Export and Import a workspace, there is a way to do it manually.
Navigate to:
(Replace CS6 with version running)
C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 Settings\en_US\x64\Workspaces\
You can run the following command to open it easily:
