Replacing banners content. Stuck for days in an EPS file

I consider myself worse than a newbie so don't get harsh at me.

So I have this issue for days. I got some epsEPS banners with an image in it.

The original epsEPS was a template but I want my own image in it.

So hereThis is the original:

And here is what I get when I open illustratorit with Illustrator:

Now to edit the grey area I tried the replace feature but it doesn't work. I tried linking my images but the same thing.

Is there any easy way to replace that with my own images? Thanks everyone
