I have always enjoyed English, but mostly in the literary sense. Writing essays is still one of my favorite ways to waste time. But unfortunately, that English education didn't include much structured grammar education.
Now I'm currently an assistant English teacher in Japan looking to make up for lost time in school. As you may or may not know, ALTs generally get their jobs simply just by being a native speaker of English. So, in the hopes of improving my knowledge of English grammar, I've found my way onto this site. I hope to improve my understanding of the complex rules of English grammar and to be better equipped to answer my Japanese teachers when they ask me the classic question "But why?"
Outside of work, I am interested in word origins and often find myself going on random etymological escapades when I should probably be doing something else.
