By Day: Mac and design ninja 18+ years (first XP: MacIIx / OS6 / Photoshop 2). Creative for a professional web, application, mobile development company. Senior (Uni) lecturer (art / digital media) on occasion. British art school trained + 3 year graphic design and illustration Hons degree. Artistic by nature and a bit of a 'Sheddist' (British term: someone who spends a good deal of time fiddling / fixing things in a garden shed), I enjoy technical stuff, model making and electronics so naturally put them together including early adoption of touch screen ('95), desktop video ('97 with Apple UK & Avid) and web applications as an alternative to software / SASS ('99). At work, I lead the brand, visual design, content assessment, initial UX / UI and form a decent client bridge to my gifted code engineer colleagues (who prefer to geek out in their play room... sorry, I meant technical development space).
By Night: Offer board support including Mac (retro software/ OS / hardware) MOD (fashion, music, art, culture with a British 60's focus), music (Small Faces / Who / Cream / Paul Weller / Northern Soul) and MG cars (1999 to 2006). Closet Beatle, I am most often seen in the wild wearing a leather half length coat, turtle neck, narrow leg trousers and Chelsea boots). Reader of fiction, most often SF, with a soft spot for John Wyndham, Heinlein, Clarke, Wells, Verne and Stephen King who all entertained me in the dark mist of my teenage bedroom (and still do). Fixer of cars, computers, networks and mobile devices. Current projects; modding the induction and exhaust of the MG ZS KV6 to improve power and economy, restoring and tricking out a retro 2006 Mac Pro tower to run 8 core 3.0 GHz Xeon server processors, 32GB Ram, 1 GHz Graphics, internal SSD / eSata Raid with 6.0 GBs pass-through running Apple OS 10.10 (it can be done and its a beast!).
Married with kids and our pooch George, a daft but gorgeous chocolate Labrador.
